Six Easy Steps to Fold and Store your Slipcover

The following instructions are applicable for any chair/loveseat/sofa. The width or size of the furniture piece will make little difference. Most any kind of slipcover can be folded up in this manner. It truly is EASY and best of all, it works wonderfully! The emphasis is on keeping the outside back, arm and skirt sections smooth and lined up. If your slipcover does not have a separate skirt, simply treat the base of your slipcover as if it were skirted.

1) Remove slipcover from body and all of the cushions. Lay the entire slipcover back flat on the floor. The back skirt/pleat should also lay flat. (Disregard all the excess slipcover bulk which is pushed up to the top) :

2) Now, place the front skirt directly on top of the back skirt. Line up center pleat so they lie directly on top of each other. Again insure that both the skirt and pleat are smooth and flat. Once this is done, pull up the excess bulk to the top.

3) Next, simply fold each arm (one at a time) towards the center, again, insuring that the skirt portion is positioned directly on top of the existing skirting. Do not disrupt the outside back, which must remain flat on the floor. Gently smooth out outside arm so it lies flat.

4) Fold each arm back. (Notice where the skirt is intentionally folded up to show you how the arm is now folded in half underneath the material)

5) This is what your slipcover will now look like after each arm has been completed. Once again, disregard all the excess bulk after you have gently pulled it upwards careful not to disturb the skirting.

6) Now simply fold the slipcover in half. Once again if desired. (Narrower pieces i.e.: chairs might not need an additional folding.) :

7) Simply use one of your seat cushions as a zip lock bag. Place the folded slipcover along with the rest of the cushions inside and zip up. You can then place this inside a dry cleaning bag for protection. This now can be stored easily underneath a bed or in a closed until you want to use them!
