Selecting Furniture: what a beginner should keep in mind.
covered in Basic Principles of Slipcovering I and II
When selecting a piece of furniture to learn the basics, it is best to keep in mind the following: Simple clean lines are best.
Hold off on any piece of furniture with multiple curves, intricate shapes, or attached back cushions.

Furniture with removable cushions generally have an easier frame to cover than "tight back" furniture.
Cushions and pillows will be slipcovered separately and are covered in detail in both video classes "Basic Principles of Slipcovering I and II."

When learning the basics, stay clear of wing back chairs; barrel back chairs, recliners, leather or vinyl upholstery,
and pieces with exposed wood blended with upholstery.
You can find excellent candidates for slipcovers at garage sales, thrift stores, consignment shops
ON THE CHEAP!! Forget about the upholstery colors, just look for good clean lines and condition.
Sofas and love seats are just as simple as a club chair to slipcover. They simply have more fabric between the arms and
perhaps a few more cushions to make!
